Melbourne Museum, and everything beside it

Carlton Gardens, minutes from the city — the excursion venue with the most on its doorstep.

Melbourne Museum sits in Carlton Gardens on the northern edge of the CBD. For excursion planning its real advantage is proximity: IMAX shares the building, the Royal Exhibition Building is alongside, and Melbourne Zoo is minutes away — which makes it the easiest venue in the state to build a genuinely full day around.

One trip, two venues

The museum plus IMAX is a full day with no travel between them at all. Museum plus zoo is a full day with about ten minutes of travel. Either pairing gets more out of a single coach booking than a single venue does, and neither needs an early start.

Both are timed, so tell us the session and entry times you have and we will sequence the day rather than leaving your group to make it work on foot.

Carlton Gardens access

The museum has proper coach drop-off arrangements, but the surrounding streets are busy and the parkland edges are restricted. We confirm the current arrangement before the excursion, and the coach relocates rather than waiting on a residential street.

For younger groups the short run from most Melbourne schools means the coach time is genuinely brief — often under half an hour each way from the northern and western suburbs.

Common questions

Easily — they share a building, so there is no travel between them. It is one of the better full-day excursions for a single coach booking.
