Sovereign Hill, and the run we know best

About ninety minutes west. One of the most-travelled school excursion roads in Victoria, and one of ours.

Ballarat is around ninety minutes west of Melbourne on good highway, which makes Sovereign Hill one of the few genuinely comfortable full-day excursions for younger year levels. We have been running Victorian schools there for two decades, and the value is less in the driving than in the parts that go wrong when transport is an afterthought.

Built for school groups

Every driver holds a current Working with Children Check, our coaches are seatbelt-equipped, and we confirm the exact vehicle assigned to your excursion before the day. Teachers get a name and a number, not a call centre.

Sovereign Hill has proper coach access and a dedicated drop-off, so the arrival is straightforward — which matters when you are moving ninety students to a timed underground tour.

More than the one attraction

Ballarat also carries the Wildlife Park, the Botanical Gardens and the Eureka Centre, and plenty of groups pair two of them into a single day. Adult and seniors groups tend to do Sovereign Hill and the gardens; schools tend to do Sovereign Hill properly and leave it at that.

Common questions

Every driver, every run — not just the school ones. It is a condition of working here rather than something we arrange per booking.

Yes. For a single-destination excursion the coach and driver normally stay on site, which means a late change of plan or an early departure is not a problem.

Share your trip and we'll put together a clear, fair quote — usually within the day.
