The Aquarium, and the CBD parking reality

On the river in the middle of the city — a straightforward venue with the least straightforward coach access in Melbourne.

SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium sits on the Yarra at the western end of the CBD. The venue itself is compact and easy to manage with a school group. Getting a 57-seat coach to it, in a grid with clearways, tram lines, construction and no coach parking, is the part that needs planning.

There is no waiting in the CBD

A coach cannot park and wait near the aquarium. The workable pattern is a supervised drop at an agreed point, the coach leaving the grid entirely, and a return at a set time and place — both confirmed in writing before the day so no teacher is standing on a footpath guessing.

Clearway hours and event closures genuinely change what is possible, and they change often. Our drivers work the CBD daily, which is the difference between a plan that survives contact with a Tuesday morning and one that does not.

Pairs well with the rest of the city

Because the aquarium is a two-hour venue for most year levels, groups often pair it with another CBD stop — the Immigration Museum, ACMI, or a walk along the river. On a chartered coach the second stop costs you the transport you have already booked rather than a second fare.

Common questions

At an agreed point confirmed before the day, chosen for where a coach can legally and safely stop at that hour — which is not always the venue's front door. You will have it in writing, not as a message on the morning.
