Scienceworks, timed to your sessions

Twenty minutes west in Spotswood — where the Planetarium and Lightning Room bookings decide the whole schedule.

Scienceworks is in Spotswood, about twenty minutes west of the CBD, and it is unusual among excursion venues in that the timed sessions matter more than the opening hours. The Planetarium and the Lightning Room are separately booked, run to fixed times, and cannot be joined late — which makes the transport schedule part of the excursion plan rather than a detail around it.

Sessions first, coach second

Book your Planetarium or Lightning Room times first, then tell us. We work the departure backwards with margin, because a group that arrives five minutes after a dome show has started has simply missed it.

If you have two sessions with a gap between them, that gap is normally the right time for lunch on site rather than a reason to move the coach.

Close enough for a half day

Twenty minutes each way means Scienceworks works as a half-day excursion, which suits schools trying to keep students back for afternoon periods. It is also a common pairing with a second west-side stop for a full day.

The site has coach access and the drop is straightforward, but we confirm the current arrangement before the day like we do everywhere — it is a working industrial pocket and access does change.

Common questions

Dome sessions cannot be joined once started, which is why we build margin into the departure rather than aiming to arrive exactly on time. If something on the road goes wrong the driver will call ahead so you know early.

Tell us where you need to be.

Share your trip and we'll put together a clear, fair quote — usually within the day.
